How to download a public Facebook video
By Lawal Ayo, LAS G Concept · Updated 15 October 2026
Sometimes you want to keep a public Facebook video, such as a tutorial, a reel you made yourself, or an event clip a friend posted with permission. LAS Converter can fetch public Facebook videos from a link. This guide covers the steps, the quality limits, and the rules you should follow.
Please only download content you own or have permission to save. Videos belong to their creators. Do not re-upload other people's work as your own. We cannot and do not download private videos, and you should not try.
Step by step
- Open the video on Facebook. For a post, tap the video itself so it opens on its own page.
- Tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open the converter, log in, and go to the Download Center.
- Paste the link and press the fetch button. The app shows the title and the available formats.
- Pick a quality from the list. Free accounts can choose up to 720p. Options marked with a crown (1080p, 1440p, 4K) need Premium.
- Press download and save the file. If you only want the sound, choose an MP3 option; free MP3 goes up to 192 kbps.
The first download can be slow
Our download server runs on a free hosting plan. When nobody has used it for a while it goes to sleep, and the first request can take up to a minute while it wakes up. The page shows a "waking the server" message and keeps trying. After that, downloads are quick. If it still fails, press Retry after a minute.
Limits on the free plan
- 10 downloads per day. The count resets daily.
- Up to 720p video and MP3 up to 192 kbps.
- Videos up to 20 minutes (Premium allows up to 3 hours).
- Ads are shown on the free plan.
Premium (₦1,500 a month or ₦12,000 a year) raises this to 200 downloads a day, 1080p to 4K where the source has it, MP3 320 kbps, a priority queue and a 24-hour cloud copy. See the free vs Premium guide.
What does not work
- Private videos and groups. If you need to be logged in to watch it, the server cannot fetch it. That is deliberate.
- Links to a post, not a video. Open the video itself and copy its link.
- YouTube on the website. YouTube blocks downloads from servers, so the website does not download from YouTube. YouTube downloads work only in the Windows app, which downloads over your own internet connection.
Privacy and copyright
The server fetches the video for you and deletes it automatically after 45 minutes. Premium cloud copies are deleted after 24 hours. We keep a history of links and titles in your account so you can find your downloads again; you can ask us to delete it. Read the Privacy Policy and the Terms. If you are the owner of a video and want to raise a concern, see Contact.
If a download fails
Work through this checklist. First, make sure the video is public: open the link in a private or incognito window; if you cannot watch it there, we cannot fetch it. Second, make sure the link is for the video, not a profile or a group. Third, wait a minute and press Retry if the page says the server is waking up. Fourth, check that you have not used your 10 free downloads for today; the counter resets daily. Fifth, very long videos may exceed the 20-minute free limit. If none of this helps, contact us with the link and the message you saw, and we will look into it.
